Job description

Position Purpose:

The Director, Nursing and Clinical Programs is responsible for the efficient development and implementation of the pharmacy’s clinical management programs through established standards of quality, productivity and performance in accordance with the policies and procedures and requirements of State and Federal regulatory agencies. The Director, Nursing and Clinical Programs will develop and implement training programs and protocols for clinical programs and assessments by pharmacy employees.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develop clinical programs/processes to ensure proper patient care in current therapeutic areas of focus for new targeted therapeutic categories as part of strategic growth
  • Create an overall clinical program at either a drug level or a therapeutic category based on clinical research or nationally recognized treatment protocols
  • Must have experience in Outcomes and Outcome Management Data 
  • Develop and implement clinical programs to manufacturer specifications to ensure contract compliance for both limited distribution products and open distribution products
  • Lead the development of training and support materials for a robust clinical training program for clinicians and patient care coordinators at the pharmacies
  • Participate in pharmaceutical manufacturer meetings as clinical support for gaining access to new products or quarterly operations reviews for current products
  • Deliver formal presentation of proposal recommendation of findings to build support programs and processes
  • Evaluate workflow efficiencies and best practices to determine program/process specifications
  • Identify skill, knowledge, and certification requirements for program/process implementation based on requirements
  • Identify technology needs to support clinical program/process
  • Develop and implement plan of care as part of nursing process
  • Drive effective clinical decisions within a business environment

 

Knowledge and Experience:

  • Employee must possess a minimum of five years’ experience in specialty pharmacy or related delivery of service
  • Strong presentation skills, comfortable training employees and meeting with pharmaceutical manufacturers
  • Requires ability to develop and coordinate work procedures to attain results within broad guidelines; to apply established policy and practices of the occupation to the analysis and resolution of work problems independently, and to detect exceptional cases for referral and/or to visualize end results of several multi-faceted functions involving the integrated tasks of own work and the work of others subject to check and approval, often characterized by moderate to highly seasoned creative judgment

 

Education:

  • BS in Nursing required. Masters in Nursing Education preferred
